The check that costs about a minute

Name the three facts in the answer that would hurt if they were wrong. Usually that is a number, a name, and a rule or a date. Check those three where they actually live, meaning your own records, the vendor's page, the state's website. That is the entire habit and it runs about a minute. It works because the invented parts are rarely random: they are the specific ones, the citation, the statute, the price, because those are the parts the tool is filling in rather than repeating back. The tone is identical either way, so tone is not the test.

“The tool never sounds unsure, so the way an answer sounds tells you nothing about whether it is right.”

From the opening section on invented facts, and the minute long check that catches them.
